Neon Orange

Jumper - Topshop
Skirt - Zara
Coat - Topshop
Boots - Koi Couture

Hello there!

EXAMS ARE OVER! It feels so good to finally be back and posting regularly! I have some exciting plans for summer, as well as hanging out with my friends, I have a trip to Dubai and London planned out, but I mainly want to spend the holidays simply relaxing and taking it easy for once. I am also starting a few projects, such as creating a magazine! (more on this soon) I cannot articulate how odd it will feel, to finally be able to enjoy myself without the burden of revision on my back for once.

My best friend and blogger Sarah took these photos whilst we were out and about in central Manchester, albeit it was a while ago, that was still a really lovely trip. I'm really going to miss Sarah because we will be going to different colleges from September, she has taught me so much, and introduced to many new and wonderful things! (Oklahoma Cafe, Best Coast, Magma to name but a few)

At the time I wore this outfit, the weather was still transitioning, hence why this outfit is a bit of mis-match. (as far as seasons are concerned) I love the lightness of this black silk maxi skirt I bought from Zara last year, it is such a staple piece in my wardrobe and it can go with most things. When I was picking out this outfit at the time, I was in a bit of a rush and thus did not have the opportunity to piece together a more , this is why I am super grateful for having a black maxi skirt.

Whilst I was away I realised that my blog has just hit 1000 followers! When I first started my blog, I never ever thought I could ever amass such a large following! So thank you very much for all your love and support, it really means the world to me!

Check out my latest YouTube video, you could even be amazing and hit subscribe on my channel!

On Girl Hate

This post is a little different from my usual stuff, but girl hate an issue which I have wanted to blog about for a while. Somehow I have only just got round to putting pen to paper. (or finger to keyboard but whatever)

Have you ever come across someone who has disliked you for no apparent reason? This person has somehow concocted a strong view about you, without having even met you properly. It's bizarre but I'm sure girls can relate, whether they feel they've been on the receiving end of this scenario or the giving end, or both. Before I proceed, this is one of the many forms of girl hate. Where your achievements/image/personality is judged by a bunch of silly rumours, or your Instagram account or Facebook page; the list goes on and on.

Sometimes one girl can form a very negative view about another girl because there's something in that girl which threatens them and triggers an insecurity within themselves. Hence, begins the incessant Facebook/Instagram/Twitter stalking, where one girl is trying to find that one flaw in this other girl, in a pitiful attempt try and boost her own self-confidence. When put into words, this whole thing sounds ridiculous, and that's because it is! Girl hate is something I firmly believe needs to be abolished from society and most importantly, our consciences. There is no place in a modern day society for a thing like girl hate, where your whole livelihood, personality and image is judged by a few social networking sites. Where you're branded a 'slut' just because of one picture, or an 'attention seeker' just because of one status update. The biggest threat to a girl's happiness can sometimes be herself, where she's constantly looking for flaws within other people because she needs to find some way to make herself feel better. Or on the other hand, another threat to her could be her constant pondering as to why other girl's don't like her, what exactly is it about her that makes others dislike her so much? The answer to all of this is simply girl hate.

Women often feel the need to compete with other women. According to this logic there can only be one beautiful person and one funny person and one rich person, and the list goes on. It's a stupid kind of logic but it's there and it's on your conscience and I know girls can relate to that. I feel like this is the root of all girl hate sometimes, yes, girls sometimes hate other girls because they feel like they are competing with each other over something. The more you read it over and over the more ridiculous it seems. This life is not a competition, we are not here to compete in things we are not here to prove anything to anyone, so you don't have to feel like you have to have anything against anyone. Afterall, what are you trying to win?

The key to getting over girl hate is honestly to just try your best to be positive and optimistic in a given situation, which I know is much easier to say than actually do. But trust me, nothing feels better than just not succumbing to girl hate. It's all too easy to make fun of another girl for no apparent reason, it's all too easy to backbite and be rude and stalk another girl if it means that in some way or another, it makes you feel that tiny bit better. However, if we put this into perspective, in the grand scheme of things, by doing all of these little petty things, we are actually making ourselves feel a lot worse, as well as judging people far too quickly, which in itself branches out to many other worrying issues. Whenever you feel yourself tilting into either enforcing girl hate or are a victim on the receiving end, just try your best to be the bigger person and remember you are not here to impress other people.

I hope we can all look forward to a future free of girl hate. I hope we can learn to appreciate other people and their happiness as well as ourselves and our own. A future where girls can be more friendly and kind to each other, where there are no barriers between us, making it easier for our friendships and to open up a little. I truly believe that once we can all stop judging each other and secretly hating each other, then we can truly be confident people and then we can truly implement the true value of feminism into our lives.

I would love to hear some of your opinions regarding girl hate! Drop a comment below or you can tweet me @MissIffa or even drop me an email at missiffa@hotmail.co.uk. I've left some links below if you want to do some further reading on the whole issue of girl hate too.

Simple

Top- Topshop
Jeans - Topshop Tall
Shoes - Koi Couture

Hello there!

As I am writing this I cannot help but point out that my exams start this Friday! I am admittedly very nervous, I hope the time goes quickly for me so that I can look forward to a summer full of spending time with friends and doing all the stuff I always wanted to do, plus of course, the usual holiday to Dubai! (!) Also, this is sort of a little random, but a couple of weeks ago I must have mentioned the fashion show I was holding for charity. I am ecstatic to inform you all that that fashion show raised a phenomenal £1010! I am so pleased with the figure as well as where the money is going to.

With this outfit I was going for the whole understated look. I often think that we live in a society which is so big and brash and always keen to make a statement, that we forget the more simpler things in life. The same kind of theory also applies to fashion, I often think that the industry is often so caught up in trying to make a big statement with everything it does, that it can miss out the simple things which are just as beautiful.

I love this slouchy grey tee which I bought from Topshop, it's definitely a multi-purpose piece which can easily transition from day to night. For this outfit I paired it with my trusty dark blue denim jeans, I honestly do believe that a simple pair of skinny jeans can seriously go a long way. And finally I chose my simple black wedges from Koi Couture to complete the outfit; with shoes I like to keep a few statement 'goes with everything' kind of pieces as well as a few wildcards.

I hope you all have a good week, and those of you with exams cropping up: good luck!

Vermillion

Jumper - c/o She Likes
Skirt - River Island
Scarf - Aubin & Wills
Boots - Kurt Geiger
Rings (top to bottom) - Thriftette, Accessorize, Topshop

Hello there!

I was recently sent this beautiful jumper from She Likes, it's a really flattering piece with two small pockets at the front. The length is just perfect, not too long or too short, making it perfect to wear with jeans or a skirt. Despite how chunky it looks in the pictures, the jumper is surprisingly lightweight, making it the perfect trasition piece from spring to summer. Plus, for just £18.00, I genuinely believe this jumper is a bargain!

I decided to pair the jumper with this midi denim skirt, I love the acid wash finish to the denim, and it's the perfect alternative to wearing just a pair of skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are definitely a staple for every girl's wardrobe, but I would be lying if I didn't admit that sometimes I prefer to mix it up a little; hence why I went for this denim skirt instead.

I haven't really gotten up to much this week, except for painting my nails and drooling over the incredible Elie Saab SS13 show! I received a paper-copy of Cosmopolitan India magazine this week, I'm still so overwhelmed at the fact I am featured in it, it's such an honour! I hope you are all well and I wish you the best for the week ahead!

My First Blogger Event! Thriftette x Waiste

Me with Sarah from Nifty Thrifts and Lola from Pastime Bliss
Me with Amy from Amy Valentine! (Cue fangirl moment!)

Hello there!

Long time, no blog! I have recently been bogged down with so much work, and with exams just around the corner, it has meant I am finding less and less time to blog. Do not fret, however, as I love blogging and have no intention of giving it up any time soon, and as soon as we break up for the summer holidays, I will be blogging much more frequently than I do now.

I am really excited to tell you all about my first ever blogger event! I went with my best friend and blogger Sarah, to celebrate the launch of Waiste's new collection at Thriftette. Waiste is a brand set up by Sara, (check out her personal style blog here) selling reworked and customised denim. Her incredible jackets have even been seen on Cara Delevigne to name but one! The new Waiste collection is a feast for the eyes, with lashings of crochet and delicate embroidery adorned onto beautiful denim jackets, I just loved the concept of making a denim jacket a statement piece within an outfit. You can check out the whole collection here as well as perusing Thriftette's wonderful online store here.

I got to meet a few lovely bloggers, such as Lola from Pastime Bliss, Sarah from Fashion Dotty and Amy from Amy Valentine. They are all such incredibly talented people and such an honour and pleasure to meet! I have to admit, I was so excited to meet Amy, as I've been a keen reader of her blog for as long as I can remember!

I have also been making a couple of YouTube videos recently. This one is about the Thriftette x Waiste event, but you can also have a look at more of my videos here.

Eastern Touch

Dress - Generation
Jeans - Topshop Tall
Coat - Topshop
Shoes - bazaar
Necklace - Topshop

Hello!

I am British born with roots all over the east. Growing up, I loved the cultural aspects of both worlds; the different fashions and traditions fascinated me. I honestly refrain from only embodying fashions from one culture, no matter where you are from; I believe we should embody other cultures as much as we can, experience as much as we can to discover who we truly are and what our style is truly like. Despite what background you are from, I think it is very important to embrace other cultures and explore their fashions too, you'll never know what might end up loving!

I was really excited about posting this outfit on my blog, it's a mixture of eastern and western clothing, and I haven't done anything like since way back in the early days of my blog. I really love the fashion from my culture, so I embrace Indian and Pakistani clothing with open arms! I decided to mix it up a little by adding a classic brown coat and skinny jeans, giving the outfit a more modern touch. I just adore the floatiness of the kaftan dress, and the embroidery is really like nothing out there.

It's been a while since I last posted, unfortunately this is because of exams! I have exams coming up in May, and hence I will be finding it difficult to blog as frequently. Do not fret, however, as I hope I can continue to blog in a somewhat regular pattern. I am also planning on holding a blog sale and making more YouTube videos in the coming weeks, so watch this space!

Pinafore

Top (underneath) - Topshop
Pinafore Dress - Vintage @ Pop Boutique
Scarf - Vintage @ Pop Boutique
Boots - Koi Couture

Hello!

I bought this pinafore dress a while ago whilst shopping with friends, I had been looking for a pinafore dress everywhere but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. I also found it difficult to justify spending £50-£60 on pinafore dresses from other high street stores, so if you're looking for a cheaper alternative, I would definitely recommend checking out some local vintage shops! When I stumbled across this piece I was head-over-heels as I felt that the boldness and quirkiness of the pattern definitely represented my style. I gave the 60's inspired dress a heritage vibe by pairing the dress with brown boots, a simple yet classic staple part to any girl's wardrobe! This outfit was ridiculously cosy, with credit to the lovely wool scarf which may be familiar to you all from some of my previous posts.

This week has been ridiculously hectic for me! Along with masses of homework I also managed to hold a fashion show, in collaboration with boohoo.com - more on this in my later posts! Organising a fashion show involves a lot of time, perseverance and organisation from all members of the team, it was an unforgettable experience and I am so pleased with how successful it was. All the money we made from ticket sales is going to charity, so it was surely a win-win outcome for everyone.
